I was living in Blue Ridge at a friend’s parking space with my RV, and the rear skylight was already broken, and everything was flooded in the back of the RV. The front skylight I had already replaced, and it was a big storm coming and I knew I had to protect the front skylight because it was over our bed. At the time, my 4 yr old and I were surviving with no heat partial power and soaked floor. There was no running water, and it was in the mid-thirties, so it was very cold. We had to double up and it started to rain. I pulled out the tarp and attempted to put it over the top of the RV by myself with bungee cords and the wind started picking up and it just kept blowing it off over and over. My friend ran out to help me and eventually we got it strapped down and covering the windshield and the side windows where we had a couple of weeks and the front skylight. I’ll never forget the horrible sounds of the rain, the wind, the flapping tarp and the tearing. Unfortunately, the tarp was not salvageable, and it was only the middle of the storm. Hail began to crack on the metal roof and the plastic hood over my skylight. It Broke! This now resulted in us getting wet while we in bed, so I woke up the babe and we had to basically move to one side of the bed, which was towards the end. Uh, the drop off. This was a cab-over queen with a drop to the floorboards of the cab, nearly 5 feet. It’s a very difficult night of sleep and sleep deprivation was imminent. Morning came and the decision was clear we had to leave the RV. Damn Tarp!
